August 2019 Maxx is a people-lover! He's VERY strong and loves to play. He is kennel trained and does not soil his inside run. He will sit on command (if you have food) and has learned "stay" for his "Chompion" with some kibble in it. He's figured out he needs to watch the human and not the treat. Good boy! He's settled down SOME as a senior dog (9 yrs old) but still has plenty of energy, and plenty of exercise will keep him more settled. He's developed arthritis in his lower back and is stiff and painful of a morning, despite pain medication and a heat pad and bedding. He's has laser treatments and injections of Adequan for the past 2 months and is on supplements for joints. He's no better, but we sure hope everything has kept him from getting worse! He does loosen up and acts like a young dog the rest of the day, thankfully. He gets along well with multiple dogs here. NO CATS, rabbits, squirrels, other small animals, birds, snakes, or garden hoses! He has a very strong prey drive. He also has a thing about water, like some dogs do-- he wants to catch it (we think) -- from the hose, or as it drips off the roof. He's been known to zip through a group of people and snatch a mitten off a hand, slick as a whistle..... He was originally brought to Friends for Life in November 2011 when he was almost a year old when his people had to move and couldn't keep him. Maxx will add lots of life to YOUR life! Background check and references required since this breed is still used in too many places for fighting. If you would like to sponsor Maxx, we need sponsors!
