Rascal was picked up alongside the road halfway up the mountain in December 2012- obviously abandoned- and a coyote was supposedly spotted in the woods not far from him. He may have been dinner if those kind people hadn't picked him up. He was taken to the county shelter where they noticed that he was limping on a back leg. He was adopted by FFL the same day and taken to the vet. X-rays showed 3 fractures between his hip and upper thigh. The vet said it was an old fracture and a "non-union break", meaning the body had done as much as it could but had "given up". It was suggested that as long as he didn't seem to be in pain, leave it alone. Otherwise, it may need amputated at some point in the future. Amazingly, this little guy uses the leg, even to the point of jumping up onto things! He likes to climb onto his doghouse in his kennel and wait quietly during feeding times. He's very active and loves to lick and cuddle, and LOVES his tummy rubs! He is such a sweetie!
