GOOD IN A HOME WITH
PREFERS A HOME WITHOUT
May 2020. Smokey was one of 21 small dogs rescued way back in November 2009. FFL took 17 on November 22 of 2009 and acquired the other 4 over the next couple months. 17 of the dogs were sent to Save a Dog rescue in Sudbury, MA, over the following months and were adopted (THANK YOU, SAD!). Smokey is right around 15 lbs. I put Norwegian Elkhound as one of his breeds (you can choose 2 on Petfinder) because his hair is so dense, like an Elkhound's, and he has stand-up ears like an Elkhound, but he's not near the size, so your guess is as good as mine as to his breed mix. He's a little long in the back and short in the leg. ?? He's listed as Special Needs because of his lack of socialization (but he would come around pretty quickly if he was with dogs that liked attention from people). He's also Special Needs because he lost an eye in November, no idea what happened, but it could be genetic because Oscar (a possible littermate to Smokey) lost both eyes 2 years ago to the same symptoms, also undetermined as to the cause. ?? Smokey is available for adoption ONLY to a person, couple, or family with at least one other dog; and he, she, or they must have the patience and the time to work with him AND keep him the rest of his life so he doesn't have to be traumatized by more change. He's also available as a Sponsor Dog. Please contact FFL at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 304 667-1387 and leave a message if you would like information on becoming a much-needed faithful Sponsor.
